Cricut Shares Dip Despite Platform Growth
5 Aug
Summary
- Cricut's Q2 revenue declined by 9% year-over-year.
- Paid subscribers grew to over 3.1 million, up 3%.
- Net income increased to $39.1 million, boosted by refunds.

In the second quarter, Cricut's revenue experienced a 9% year-over-year decline, reaching $156.3 million. This decrease was attributed to a challenging comparison with the prior year, which included tariff-driven purchase pull-forwards. Despite the revenue drop, the company reported an increase in net income to $39.1 million, or $0.19 per diluted share.
This profit improvement was significantly influenced by $17.9 million in gross-margin benefits from IEEPA tariff refunds and a $6.4 million release of reserves following a royalty dispute settlement. The company's platform strategy showed resilience, with platform revenue increasing by over 5% to $85 million. The number of paid subscribers also grew by more than 3% from the previous year, reaching just over 3.1 million.
Cricut is further enhancing its user experience by expanding its premium subscription offering and testing new pricing tiers. The introduction of AI-powered Creative Labs features aims to help users transform personal photos into physical projects. While active users saw a slight year-over-year increase, they remained stable sequentially, marking a stabilization point for the second quarter.
