Country Cob bakery, a Melbourne-based establishment, has secured the prestigious "Australian Best Pie Competition Official Overall Winner" award for the fifth time in eight years. The bakery is owned by brothers Ryan and Chan Khun, who emigrated from Cambodia.
Their latest winning creation, crowned in 2026, is a Malaysian-style prawn curry pie. This follows previous triumphs, including a satay fish pie in 2018, a caramelised pork and pepper pie in 2019, and a fish amok pie in 2023. The bakery has expanded significantly since its inception.
Initially unfamiliar with pies, Ryan Khun's journey began after moving to Australia in 2012. He joined his brother Chan at their bakery, eventually leading them to develop their own unique pie recipes. Country Cob now operates four locations: Kyneton, Boronia, Springvale, and a production kitchen in Dandenong South, producing over 10,000 pies weekly.
