Peacock, Comcast's streaming platform, has reported its second consecutive quarterly profit of $261 million on $1.8 billion in revenue. The service maintained 48 million subscribers.
However, Comcast's overall financial performance was impacted by a 6.1% revenue tumble to $29.3 million, with profits sliding 7.3%. This decline is attributed to the company losing 144,000 residential broadband and 274,000 video customers.
Comcast's content and experiences division, including Universal theme parks, saw revenue grow 6.5% to $10.54 billion. The company remains on track to spin off NBCUniversal and Sky into a separate entity next year.
In the UK, Sky's proposed $2.1 billion acquisition of ITV's media and entertainment business, including its streaming platform ITVX, is facing regulatory scrutiny. UK Secretary of Culture, Media and Sport Lisa Nandy has indicated she is "minded to intervene" pending a review by the Competition and Markets Authority and Ofcom.
