Arrow Exploration has announced the commencement of production from the Mateguafa HZ7 (M-HZ7) appraisal well, located on the Tapir Block within Colombia's Llanos Basin. The Canadian oil and gas firm, which holds a 50% stake in the Mateguafa Attic field, confirmed that the initial production rates from the new well have surpassed expectations.
Drilling for the M-HZ7 well concluded on December 4, 2025, within the projected timeline and budget. The well reached a total measured depth of 14,253 feet, encountering multiple hydrocarbon-bearing zones. Production has now started from the Carbonera C9 formation, which boasts a horizontal oil pay zone of approximately 4,053 feet with sandstone characteristics, an average porosity of 23%, and high resistivity.
Initial net production is reported at 847 barrels of oil per day, with a low water cut of 4%. While still cleaning up, the well's testing results suggest potential for higher output. Arrow CEO Marshall Abbott expressed optimism, noting the M-HZ7 well's success and highlighting the Mateguafa Attic discovery's significance for the company's future development plans in this core area.
