China Battery Exports Surge in Value Despite Flat Volumes
7 Apr
Summary
- China's battery exports value climbed 22.8% to $82.279 billion in 2025.
- Lithium-ion battery exports reached $76.746 billion, up 25.55% year-on-year.
- CIBF2026 will feature over 3,100 exhibitors focusing on advanced battery tech.

China's battery industry concluded 2025 with robust export value growth, reaching $82.279 billion, a 22.8% increase from the previous year, while shipment volumes remained steady. This surge is attributed to a strategic shift towards higher-value lithium-ion products, which accounted for 93.3% of exports, up from 91.3% in 2024.
The sector is increasingly focusing on power batteries, energy storage, and cutting-edge technologies such as solid-state and sodium-ion batteries. Smart manufacturing is also playing a crucial role in enhancing efficiency and supporting lower-emission production.
These developments set the stage for the 18th China International Battery Fair (CIBF2026), scheduled for May 13-15 in Shenzhen. The event is expected to host over 3,100 exhibitors, covering the entire battery supply chain from materials and equipment to recycling applications.
Alongside the exhibition, several high-level forums will address frontier technologies, next-generation battery advancements, and the critical issue of battery carbon-footprint management. Over 2,000 experts are anticipated to attend, offering insights into policy direction, emerging technologies, and market trends.
