- This order modernizes fleets and expands capacity for Chinese carriers.

Three Chinese airlines are set to acquire a total of 95 Airbus aircraft, with a list price reaching approximately $17.8 billion. Air China and its subsidiary Shenzhen Airlines will jointly purchase 55 Airbus planes, while Hainan Airlines has agreed to buy 40 A320neo-family jets. These acquisitions are intended to modernize airline fleets and increase capacity within China's rapidly growing aviation market.
Deliveries for the A350-900 wide-body jets destined for Air China are scheduled between 2030 and 2032. Shenzhen Airlines will receive its 40 narrow-body A320neo aircraft between 2029 and 2032. Hainan Airlines' 40 A320neo jets are slated for delivery between 2028 and 2032. The actual transaction prices are anticipated to be lower than the listed values due to discounts offered by Airbus on these substantial orders.
This major purchase follows other significant orders from Chinese carriers, including China Eastern Airlines' planned acquisition of A330neo and A320neo jets, and China Southern Airlines' agreement to buy 137 aircraft. The new planes are expected to significantly boost passenger and cargo capacity for the involved airlines, with some aircraft intended to replace older models.
