This project, budgeted at approximately Rs 30 lakh, focuses on V-4 and V-5 roads, including the Sector 46 market, to bolster pedestrian safety and deter illegal parking on sidewalks.
Area councillor Gurpreet Singh stated that the railings will establish distinct pedestrian areas and promote organized parking. This addresses concerns where vehicles often obstruct footpaths, forcing pedestrians onto roads. A six-foot width of the footpath will be exclusively for pedestrians, with the remaining space designated for systematic vehicle parking.
This development has been positively received by residents and shopkeepers in Sector 46, who believe it will effectively tackle issues of haphazard parking and limited pedestrian space, ultimately improving walkability in a busy urban area.
