CFO Shuffle: Tech and Energy Sees Major Financial Leadership Changes

Several prominent companies are ushering in new financial leadership. ExxonMobil's Chief Financial Officer, Kathryn Mikells, is set to retire on February 1, 2026, to focus on recovering from medical procedures. Neil Hansen, who has been with ExxonMobil for 26 years, will take over the CFO role.
In the technology sector, Workiva has named Barbara Larson as its new CFO, effective January 20, 2026. Larson brings over two decades of financial leadership experience, including a previous tenure as CFO at Workday. Dropbox is also seeing a change at the top finance position, with Ross Tennenbaum succeeding Timothy Regan as CFO on December 16. Tennenbaum previously served as president and CFO of Avalara.
Additionally, AI-focused startups are appointing new financial executives. Michael Gordon has joined Crusoe as CFO and COO, moving from MongoDB where he served as CFO and COO. Heather Planishek has been appointed as the new finance chief at AI cloud company Lambda, having previously held CFO roles at Tines and senior financial positions at Palantir Technologies.
