Cerebras AI Chip Demand Surges, Lifts Forecasts

Cerebras Systems has significantly boosted its financial outlook, raising its annual revenue and gross margin forecasts. This upward revision is driven by exceptionally strong demand for its specialized AI chips, as companies worldwide are actively expanding their data center infrastructure to power burgeoning AI services.

The chip designer's strategy hinges on capturing a larger share of the AI processor market, a space currently dominated by Nvidia. Cerebras's innovative flagship product, the wafer-scale engine (WSE), is a singular, large chip designed to be more efficient than assembling numerous smaller graphics processors. This design aims to accelerate AI inference, a critical process for AI applications.

Looking ahead, Cerebras projects its 2026 adjusted revenue to range between $880 million and $890 million, an increase from its previous guidance. The company also anticipates its annual adjusted gross margin to reach between 41% and 43%. Cerebras has stated its ambition to more than triple revenue by 2027.

In the second quarter of 2026, Cerebras reported a substantial 74.3% increase in sales, reaching $180.11 million. The company also saw its adjusted loss narrow significantly compared to the previous year. A key factor contributing to this growth is a multi-year agreement with OpenAI, valued at $20 billion, to provide AI compute capabilities, with core cloud and services revenue nearly quadrupling in the quarter.
