Summary
- Over five million Australians to receive increased Centrelink payments.
- Payments rise due to biannual indexation and threshold adjustments.
- Increases aim to offset the rising cost of living for recipients.

From Friday, millions of Australians are set to receive an increase in their Centrelink payments. This adjustment, impacting over five million individuals, is part of the regular biannual indexation of welfare benefits. It also includes changes to income and asset thresholds, providing much-needed financial relief.
The increases are specifically designed to help offset the escalating cost of living. Payments like the Age Pension, Disability Support Pension, and Carer Payment will see a rise of approximately $22.20 per fortnight for single recipients. Other benefits, including Rent Assistance, JobSeeker, ABSTUDY, and Parenting Payment, will also be adjusted upwards.
