Canada Immigration Fees Jump December 1st!

Canada's federal government has implemented a significant increase in various immigration-related fees, effective from December 1, 2025. This adjustment affects applications for authorization to return to Canada, temporary resident permits, criminal rehabilitation, and the restoration of temporary resident status. Fees now range up to $1,231.00 for criminal rehabilitation concerning serious criminality.
The International Experience Canada (IEC) work permit processing fee has also seen an increase, moving from $179.75 to $184.75. While the 2025 IEC pools have closed, candidates can prepare for the 2026 season. IRCC has established a process for applicants who submitted complete paper applications before the fee hike, requiring them to pay the difference online.
Applicants who submitted their complete applications via mail before the fee increase will be contacted by IRCC. They will need to calculate the fee difference and make the additional payment using the online tool. A receipt for this payment must be provided as instructed, with options for single or installment payments.
