CA EV Buyers Get $3.5K Boost

The program includes a price cap for qualifying vehicles: $50,000 for new and $25,000 for used. However, a special exemption allows EV manufacturers headquartered in California that exclusively produce zero-emission vehicles to participate regardless of their price point. This exemption specifically benefits companies such as Rivian and Lucid, whose vehicles typically exceed the set price limits.
Lucid has confirmed its intention to participate, making its Air and Gravity models eligible for California customers under this new incentive structure. In contrast, Tesla, despite manufacturing in California, will be subject to the price caps due to its corporate headquarters being located outside the state. Lower-priced Tesla models might still qualify if they meet the price criteria.
