Beyond the top tier, San Diego, San Jose, and Sacramento were placed in the upper half of the rankings, while Santa Cruz appeared in the lower half. Resonance also released a list of America's best small cities, where six additional California cities, including Santa Cruz and Napa, were acknowledged.
