According to a report by Citi, the company aims to sell between 1.5 and 1.6 million vehicles abroad next year, more than doubling its expected overseas sales of 900,000 to 1 million units in 2025.
BYD's overseas sales growth is expected to continue at a high double-digit pace from 2025 onwards, driven by the launch of new models. The company's sales mix is balanced across different regions, with Europe, North America, and the ASEAN countries each accounting for around one-third of total overseas sales projected for 2025.
In addition to its ambitious sales targets, BYD management also anticipates a significant decline in capital expenditure by 2026. This is due to the belief that the company's vehicle and battery production capacity will be able to meet demand, reducing the need for further major investments.
BYD has been rapidly expanding its global footprint in recent years, building factories for local assembly in countries like Hungary, Brazil, and potentially Spain for its European operations. The company's overseas sales have already doubled to around 20% of its total vehicle deliveries so far in 2025, up from 10% in 2024.
