- Leaders discussed strengthening energy supplies and open trade.
- Australia seeks de-escalation in the Middle East conflict.

During a visit to Brunei's Royal Palace, Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah assured Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese that his nation has no intention of imposing export restrictions on Australia. This assurance came as the leaders discussed strengthening energy supply chains and maintaining open trade flows amidst global tensions.
Prime Minister Albanese expressed "deep concern" over the conflict in the Middle East, emphasizing its impact on energy supplies through the Strait of Hormuz. He called for de-escalation between the United States and Iran and the resumption of negotiations and normal economic activity, which are crucial for the global economy.
Australia reiterated its commitment to the freedom of navigation and safe passage of trade through the Strait of Hormuz. The leaders also toured a Brunei Fertiliser Industries plant, which supplies nearly 10 per cent of Australia's urea. Discussions included increasing petrol, diesel, oil, and fertiliser shipments to Australia, with Brunei currently providing significant percentages of Australia's annual diesel, crude oil, and urea imports.
Following these talks, Prime Minister Albanese was scheduled to continue discussions on similar energy supply matters with his counterpart in Malaysia. The visit underscores Australia's focus on securing vital energy resources through engagement with its regional neighbours.
