Brazil is preparing to launch its most significant Eco Invest auction, aiming to mobilize approximately 50 billion reais ($9.92 billion) for sustainable technology development. This initiative marks the final auction under the current administration and will continue to leverage the Climate Fund to attract substantial private investment.
The funds are designated for six strategic sectors: green fertilizers, battery systems and critical minerals processing, sustainable fuels, automation and artificial intelligence in production, green chemistry, and the circular use of industrial waste. These areas are crucial for Brazil's aim to strengthen its position in key global markets.
To secure necessary capital, Brazil is organizing roadshows targeting investors in the U.S., Europe, and China. Bidding for the auction, which remains open until July, mandates that submissions include between 15% and 45% foreign capital, signaling a strong international focus for the program's success.
Six distinct innovation funds will be established, each receiving 1.5 billion reais in public capital. Private investors can contribute up to double this amount, with an additional 1 billion reais per fund available for project financing. A minimum of 0.5% of mobilized resources will support research and entrepreneurship, with at least 10% of each fund's portfolio dedicated to companies collaborating with research institutions or localizing foreign technologies.
