Petrobras to Supply Cancelled Fuel Auctions
20 Mar
Summary
- Brazil's oil regulator orders Petrobras to cover cancelled fuel auction volumes.
- Measures monitor fuel stocks and imports due to Mideast conflict impact.
- Brazil reduced minimum fuel stock levels for producers to aid supply.

Brazil's National Petroleum Agency (ANP) has directed state-run oil firm Petrobras to provide the diesel and gasoline volumes that were scheduled for auction this week before the deals were canceled. This directive is part of a comprehensive strategy to oversee fuel stocks and imports, aiming to prevent potential supply disruptions.
The ANP stated these measures are a response to fuel price impacts stemming from the conflict between the U.S. and Iran in the Middle East. Although the agency has not yet detected any fuel shortages across Brazil, it has taken steps to bolster supply.
To facilitate more fuel reaching distributors, the ANP has lowered the minimum required fuel stock levels for producers. This move comes as diesel prices have become a significant concern for Brazil, which recently eliminated diesel taxes to mitigate higher global oil prices and launched an operation against fuel price gouging.
