Brazil Fuels Delivery Drivers with New Motorcycle Credit

Brazil has initiated a new subsidized credit program aimed at empowering app-based delivery drivers to acquire motorcycles. This strategic move by the government seeks to stimulate demand and provide crucial support to a segment of the workforce that has experienced significant growth.

The program features attractive annual interest rates, set at 11.5% for female drivers and 12.5% for male drivers. State-owned financial institutions, Caixa Economica Federal and Banco do Brasil, are designated to disburse the financing. A government fund is in place to absorb potential credit risks, thereby enhancing lender confidence.

This initiative is part of a broader strategy of quasi-fiscal measures designed to bolster the economy ahead of upcoming elections. It complements other existing programs focused on debt renegotiation and support for ride-hailing drivers. The credit is specifically for Brazilian-manufactured motorcycles, including electric options, and requires drivers to have a minimum of six months of platform activity and 100 completed trips or deliveries.
