Brackley Gets Green Light for 150 New Homes
23 Apr
Summary
- Outline permission granted for 150 homes on Brackley's northern edge.
- Development faces objections regarding traffic, services, and area character.
- Plans include a mix of property sizes with 40% designated affordable.

Outline planning permission has been granted for the construction of up to 150 homes in a new development on the northern edge of Brackley. The decision was made by the West Northamptonshire Council's strategic planning committee, despite numerous objections. These concerns, voiced by residents and Brackley Town Council, centered on potential impacts to local services, traffic congestion, parking availability, and the overall character of the area.
The housing developer, Greystoke Land, received approval for the estate to be built east of Radstone Road. Indicative proposals suggest a variety of one to five-bedroom properties will be offered. Significantly, 40% of the new units are planned to be affordable housing. The development site has been identified in the council's emerging local plan as a suitable location for housing.
The approval followed a vote where 11 committee members favored the plans, one opposed, and one abstained. A Section 106 agreement is pending, which will detail contributions towards primary care facilities, education, libraries, and sustainable transport. This decision follows a recent appeal approval for a separate, larger 700-home estate on the town's western side.
