Blinkit Dumps 10-Minute Delivery Promise
13 Jan
Summary
- Blinkit removed its 10-minute delivery promise after government intervention.
- A nationwide gig worker strike on New Year's Eve 2025 highlighted safety concerns.
- The delivery promise has been changed to 'products delivered at your doorstep'.

Effective Tuesday, Blinkit has officially removed its '10-minute' delivery claim from all its platforms. This decision followed direct intervention by the Union Ministry of Labour, signaling a significant change in the quick-commerce industry's operational standards. The company's core promise has been updated, now stating "30,000+ products delivered at your doorstep."
The move addresses widespread concerns raised during a nationwide gig worker strike on New Year's Eve 2025. This industrial action brought critical issues of delivery personnel's health, safety, and income to the forefront, prompting government attention and dialogue with major platforms like Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy, and Zomato.
Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya reportedly persuaded these delivery aggregators to abandon aggressive delivery deadlines. The objective is to enhance the safety, security, and overall working conditions for gig economy workers, moving away from practices that could compromise their well-being.
