Blackpool Council has unanimously approved plans for eight new buildings destined for business, industrial storage, and retail use on land adjacent to Blackpool Airport. This significant development is part of the town's enterprise zone and comes as a new spine road nears completion.
Councillor Julie Sloman highlighted the potential for attracting new businesses and substantial job creation. The construction phase of the project is also anticipated to provide a notable boost to employment. The proposed buildings will feature partial mezzanine floors to maximize internal space.
Blackpool Airport currently serves as a hub for corporate aircraft, offshore helicopter support, and general aviation, offering engineering and refuelling services. A previous passenger terminal, which handled holiday flights, was demolished in 2016.
