North Andhra's New Gateway: Bhogapuram Airport Opens August 1

The Bhogapuram International Airport, located in the Vizianagaram district, is slated for inauguration on August 1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is anticipated to inaugurate this new greenfield airport, which promises to significantly enhance air connectivity for North Andhra.
The airport's terminal is equipped with advanced passenger facilities, including self-baggage drop and self-service processing, alongside smart surveillance and an Integrated Operational Control Centre. In its first phase, the airport will accommodate 6 million passengers annually, with plans for staged expansion to 12 million and later 18 million passengers.
Developed by GMR Visakhapatnam International Airport Limited under a Public-Private Partnership, the initial phase of the project cost approximately ₹4,727 crore. The airport boasts a 3,800-meter Code-E runway capable of handling wide-body aircraft and includes a 5,000-square-meter cargo terminal to support air freight operations.
