Defence PSU BEML Ltd has secured a substantial order valued at approximately ₹590 crore for the supply of trawl assemblies from the Ministry of Defence. This contract was obtained through normal business operations.
BEML is actively pursuing international growth, with its Chairman and Managing Director Shantanu Roy highlighting a goal to double the company's international order book, which currently exceeds $100 million, by the fiscal year ending March 2027. A recent order from West Asia for heavy earth-moving equipment, involving design modifications and long-term maintenance, is anticipated to drive this expansion.
The company has identified a significant opportunity pipeline worth ₹40,000 crore for the 2026-27 period across its defence, rail, mining, and international business segments. Roy expects a conversion rate of roughly 50%, with a particular emphasis on rail and metro projects contributing to future growth.
BEML anticipates that exports will gradually increase, aiming for 6-7% of its total revenue in FY27 and scaling to around 10% in the medium term. The company has also focused on localization to reduce import dependence and mitigate supply chain disruptions. Currently, rail and metro projects lead the order book, followed by defence and mining, with international business comprising a smaller portion.
