Barry M Beauty Brand Collapses, Acquired by Warpaint
9 Feb
Summary
- Warpaint acquired Barry M for £1.4 million, saving the brand.
- Over 100 staff and Barry M's factory are not protected by the deal.
- Barry M faced competition and failed to innovate, leading to its downfall.

Warpaint has purchased the Barry M cosmetics brand out of administration for £1.4 million. The family-run firm, established in 1982, recently faced collapse. This acquisition by Warpaint, a producer of men's cosmetics, aims to increase its retail presence.
Unfortunately, the deal does not extend protection to Barry M's over 100 employees or its London-based factory. Analysts suggest Barry M faltered due to a lack of innovation and increased competition from social media-savvy brands. Despite being stocked in major UK retailers, it became a less prominent name.
Barry M reported sales of £15 million for the fiscal year ending February 28, 2025. Warpaint itself anticipates lower full-year profits due to a challenging consumer environment and US tariffs, which have impacted its business by £2 million. Warpaint's share price rose 8.5% following the announcement, pending court approval.
