India is set to observe National Unity Day on October 31, 2025, commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the country's first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister.
Across the nation, banks will be open and operational on this day, except in the state of Gujarat. This is in accordance with the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) official holiday list for 2025. Customers in Gujarat, however, can still access digital banking services such as internet banking, SMS banking, and WhatsApp banking for their financial and non-financial transactions.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit the Statue of Unity in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, to pay a floral tribute on this significant occasion. The Statue of Unity, the world's tallest statue, is a monument dedicated to Sardar Patel, who played a crucial role in India's independence and the integration of the princely states.
National Unity Day, also known as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, is observed annually to commemorate Patel's contributions to the nation and to promote unity and integrity among all Indians.
