Restaurant Staff Face Unpaid Wages Before Holidays
30 Dec
Summary
- Employees at three Austin restaurants claim unpaid wages.
- Checks were returned unpaid before Christmas Eve and Day.
- A GoFundMe was created to help affected staff recover lost pay.

Employees at three Austin restaurants, Gusto Italian Kitchen, Gina's on Congress, and Gràcia Mediterranean, have come forward alleging unpaid wages. Staff reported that payroll checks bounced just before the Christmas holiday, leaving many without expected income. A GoFundMe has been launched to compensate the affected workers and contractors, aiming to recover the lost wages.
Flavor Hospitality Group owner Cameron Lockley has reportedly been unresponsive to calls. An internal message suggested Lockley was stepping down due to a medical emergency, with the restaurants closing temporarily from December 25 through January 2 for restructuring. Investors in Gina's on Congress stated they had no funds to assist, having also lost money.
Employees have filed claims totaling $20,000 with the Texas Workforce Commission. Lockley has since resurfaced, apologizing and claiming he was in a difficult financial situation. He was the sole manager of bookkeeping and payroll. Lawyers for both Lockley and employees are scheduled to discuss the matter.
