Ashok Leyland has reintroduced the iconic Taurus and Hippo truck nameplates, reimagining them for contemporary heavy-duty applications in infrastructure, mining, and construction. These revitalized models are engineered for superior productivity, fuel efficiency, and driver comfort.
The new Taurus and Hippo are built upon Ashok Leyland's flexible AVTR modular truck platform, allowing for diverse configurations. They are powered by an 8.0-litre A-Series 6-cylinder engine delivering up to 360bhp and 1,600Nm of torque, with reinforced chassis and improved drivetrains for durability.
Taurus is targeted at large infrastructure and mining projects, while Hippo is designed for heavy-duty haulage and long-haul transport. Both feature enhanced cabins and improved service intervals, reflecting a commitment to safety and operational ease, with advanced options like TPMS and ADAS available on the Hippo.
