AQR Capital Management, the $189 billion hedge fund led by billionaire investor Cliff Asness, concluded the past year with significant success. The firm reported double-digit returns across several of its major investment strategies, indicating a strong performance period for the asset manager.
Specifically, the multi-strategy Apex Strategy delivered an annual gain of 19.6%. The alternative trend-following Helix Strategy achieved returns of 18.6%, while the stock trading AQR Delphi Long-Short Equity Strategy posted a 16.8% gain. All stated returns were calculated after accounting for fees.
These substantial returns for AQR Capital Management notably outperformed a wider collection of systematic hedge funds. An index designed to track these trend-following algorithms finished the year with a more modest gain of just over 2.5%.
