AP TRANSCO Plans ₹9,000 Cr Power Grid Overhaul

Transmission Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Ltd (APTRANSCO) has set a significant goal to complete 55 major transmission projects, representing an investment exceeding ₹9,000 crore. These projects are expected to bolster the state's power infrastructure by adding 8,853 MVA of transformation capacity and 1,558 circuit km of transmission lines to the grid.
New 400/220/132 kv substations are being developed at strategic locations like Kakinada SEZ, Achutapuram, Gudivada, and Ainavalli to ensure reliable power supply. APTRANSCO currently manages a substantial network, including 380 substations and over 33,000 circuit kilometres of high voltage transmission lines.
Andhra Pradesh's total installed power capacity stands at 21,153 MW, with renewable energy sources contributing 37% to this capacity and 22% to the overall generation. The state utilities are committed to expanding transmission infrastructure and adopting advanced technologies to achieve power sector excellence.
