Summary
- Andhra Pradesh is accelerating ₹5000 crore in power transmission projects.
- These works aim to boost transformation capacity and network lines.
- The upgrades support industrial growth and renewable energy goals.

Andhra Pradesh is undertaking a significant upgrade of its power transmission infrastructure with 68 network and works projects valued at ₹5,000 crore. Special Chief Secretary K Vijayanand has urged energy officials to expedite the completion of these ongoing initiatives. The objective is to enhance the state's power transmission system to meet future demands and ensure a dependable supply for agriculture, industries, and domestic users.
Upon completion, these projects will introduce an additional transformation capacity of 15,274 MVA and 1,822 circuit kilometres of transmission lines. This expansion is driven by the state's rapid industrialisation, urban development, and increasing reliance on renewable energy sources. The upgrades are designed to boost system reliability, reduce network stress, and improve voltage levels, thereby ensuring a stable power supply across various regions.
Furthermore, Andhra Pradesh is supporting major industrial investments, including the development of power supply infrastructure for a solar PV manufacturing unit in Nellore district. The state has also been allocated 3 GWh capacity for Battery Energy Storage Systems, supported by Viability Gap Funding from the central government, positioning it as a leader in renewable energy manufacturing.
