Andhra Pradesh's aviation infrastructure is set for a significant expansion with the State Cabinet's approval of the Dagadarthi Greenfield Airport project in Nellore district. This new development marks the establishment of Andhra Pradesh's eighth airport, poised to become a vital hub for regional growth.
The airport's strategic location boasts superb connectivity to National Highway corridors and key ports like Krishnapatnam and Ramayapatnam. Its proximity to industrial zones, including KRIS City and IFFCO SEZs, positions it as a crucial enabler for manufacturing, exports, and services-led economic expansion in southern Andhra Pradesh.
Planned over multiple phases on 1,332.80 acres, Phase-1 will manage 1.4 million passengers yearly, with long-term scalability to 15 million. The master plan also includes provisions for a future cargo facility, aligning with the region's increasing industrial output and port-led trade potential. The project has secured in-principle clearance from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, and a Request for Proposal has been issued for private sector development.
