On March 23, 2026, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate the foundation stone for a significant integrated steel plant by ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India). Located in Nakkapalli, Anakapalli district, this project represents a monumental investment of nearly ₹1.5 lakh crore.
The plant is engineered for an annual production capacity of 17.8 million tonnes, positioning it as one of India's largest steel manufacturing centers. The development will occur in two phases, with the initial phase alone requiring an investment of ₹70,000 crore.
Further enhancing its logistical capabilities, the facility will feature a captive port, requiring an additional investment exceeding ₹11,000 crore. This port is anticipated to generate about 6,000 jobs. The state government is actively upgrading infrastructure, including four-lane connectivity and dedicated utility supplies.
Several national and state leaders, including Union Steel Minister HD Kumaraswamy and industry magnates Lakshmi and Aditya Mittal, are expected to attend the foundation ceremony. This development is poised to reshape India's industrial landscape.
