On April 28, 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate two new Amrit Bharat Express trains. These services will connect Mumbai to Ayodhya and Pune to Varanasi, enhancing affordable long-distance rail travel.
The trains are designed as fully non-AC, featuring Sleeper and General coaches. They aim to provide budget-friendly travel with upgraded onboard amenities, including CCTV surveillance, emergency talk-back systems, and USB charging ports at every seat.
A non-AC pantry with higher heating capacity has also been included for passenger convenience on these long-haul routes. Officials highlighted that sealed coach connections and engines at both ends are incorporated for improved speed and ride quality.
These new routes are expected to benefit daily passengers, migrant workers, and pilgrims traveling between Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra. The Banaras-Hadapsar service will include 18 stops, such as Prayagraj, Kanpur, Jhansi, and Bhopal. This launch signifies the next phase of the Amrit Bharat rollout, bringing the total number of operational services to 64 nationwide.
