Amazon Price Tracker Now Shows Year-Long History
2 May
Summary
- Amazon's app now displays a product's price changes over a full year.
- The feature's expansion precedes Amazon's annual Prime Day sale.
- This tool is now available in the US, UK, and India.
Amazon has enhanced its price tracking feature, enabling shoppers to view a product's price history over the past year directly within the Amazon app. This update allows users to check price fluctuations by tapping the "Price history" button or by using Amazon's AI assistant, Rufus.
The expanded tool's rollout precedes the highly anticipated Amazon Prime Day event. This timing is significant given recent legal challenges. California's Attorney General had previously accused Amazon of engaging in "price fixing" practices related to its sales events, alleging the company influenced vendor pricing.
Previously, the built-in tracker, first introduced earlier in 2024, only provided price history for 30 and 90-day periods. The enhanced year-long view is now accessible to users in the US, UK, and India. For more detailed price monitoring, third-party tools like CamelCamelCamel and Keepa also remain available.
