Amazon's pharmacy operations are set to broaden their reach by the close of this year, with same-day prescription delivery planned for approximately 4,500 cities and towns throughout the United States. This expansion represents a substantial increase, integrating nearly 2,000 additional communities into its existing delivery framework.
The enhanced service will extend to various states, including Idaho and Massachusetts. Amazon first ventured into pharmaceutical delivery in 2018 following its acquisition of PillPack. In recent months, the company has forged a partnership with WeightWatchers to distribute medications, notably including injectable GLP-1 treatments for obesity.
Further enhancing its healthcare offerings, Amazon began dispensing common medications via electronic kiosks situated within its One Medical primary care facilities in December. Amazon acquired One Medical, a national primary care provider, in 2023, which offers patients access to primary and urgent care services for an annual fee of $199.
