Amazon has officially opened its second-largest corporate office worldwide in Bengaluru, India, a move underscoring its deep commitment to the country. The expansive 1.1 million square foot, 12-storey campus is situated on a five-acre site approximately 15 kilometers from Kempegowda International Airport.
This new hub is designed to accommodate over 7,000 employees, fostering collaboration and flexibility across e-commerce, operations, payments, technology, and seller services. The workspace features dedicated collaborative zones, meeting rooms, and breakout areas. It also includes extensive recreation facilities like basketball and pickleball courts, an amphitheater, and landscaped outdoor spaces.
Minister MB Patil of Karnataka inaugurated the facility, highlighting Amazon's investment as a testament to India's emergence as a global technology and innovation center. He emphasized the creation of high-quality jobs and the contribution to the digital economy. Samir Kumar, Country Manager of Amazon India, reiterated Bengaluru's central role in Amazon's growth journey and the company's long-term investment strategy in India.
The campus integrates sustainability principles, aiming to reduce embodied and operational carbon in line with Amazon's net-zero goal by 2040. Amazon's significant presence in Karnataka includes numerous corporate offices, fulfillment centers, and delivery stations, supporting over 80,000 local sellers.
