Amazon India is significantly accelerating its quick commerce strategy with a ₹2,800 crore ($300 million) investment slated for 2026. This capital infusion is earmarked to fortify its operations network, enhance delivery speeds, and bolster workforce safety as the ultra-fast delivery sector heats up.
The investment builds upon a previous ₹2,000 crore commitment announced in June 2025 for infrastructure upgrades. Amazon's intensified focus on rapid delivery aims to counter competitors like Blinkit, Zepto, and Swiggy Instamart, which collectively dominate over 85% of India's quick commerce market.
Amazon Now, the company's quick commerce arm, currently manages more than 300 micro-fulfilment centres. Future plans include expanding this network and integrating AI-driven logistics, optimized routing, and improved delivery partner tools. Simultaneously, Amazon is investing in associate well-being through initiatives like Project Ashray and healthcare programs.
Technological advancements, particularly in artificial intelligence and machine learning, are being prioritized to refine route planning and on-road safety. Workplace conditions are also set for upgrades, including climate-controlled facilities, as Amazon adapts to the market's increasing demand for instant delivery.
