Airlines Urge EU to Delay Green Fuel Rules
19 Mar
Summary
- Airlines request a delay for upcoming green jet fuel mandates.
- The mandate requires airlines to use sustainable eSAF fuel.
- easyJet's CEO calls for postponement until eSAF is available.

European airlines have formally requested that the European Union delay the implementation of upcoming regulations. These rules are set to require airlines to incorporate a specific amount of sustainable aviation fuel (eSAF) into their operations from the year 2030.
Kenton Jarvis, the CEO of easyJet, publicly stated that the mandate should be postponed. He emphasized that this delay is necessary until eSAF becomes practically available for widespread use. This plea from the airline industry follows similar demands for postponed mandates that were previously observed within the car manufacturing sector.
