Air India Cuts Europe Flights, Boosts Australia & Japan Routes
15 Oct
Summary
- Europe flights to Copenhagen and Vienna are suspended.
- Flights to Australia and Japan will see increased frequencies.
- Network changes address rising jet fuel prices and airspace closures.

Air India is implementing significant network changes for its upcoming winter schedule, including the suspension of non-stop flights from Delhi to Copenhagen and Vienna. The airline is also reducing frequencies on routes to Birmingham, London Gatwick, and San Francisco.
These adjustments are part of a broader network overhaul driven by escalating jet fuel prices and ongoing Pakistan airspace closures, which have increased operational costs. Vienna will continue to serve as a technical stop for select flights to the US and Canada.
In contrast, Air India will bolster its presence in Australia, increasing the frequency of flights on the Delhi-Sydney route from seven to eleven per week. This expansion is expected to add approximately 170,000 seats annually to the Sydney market.
Furthermore, Air India has announced a new four-weekly service between Delhi and Osaka, set to commence next February. This new route will make Osaka Air India's second destination in Japan, complementing the existing service to Tokyo (Haneda) from both Delhi and Mumbai.
