Abakkus Funds: Alpha Generation Amidst Market Volatility
29 Aug
Summary
- Abakkus Flexi Cap Fund showed better downside protection during market dips.
- Abakkus Small Cap Fund delivered strong returns since its March 2026 launch.
- The MEETS framework guides Abakkus's investment strategy for long-term value.

Sunil Singhania, a prominent figure in Indian equity markets, has established Abakkus Asset Managers, which launched its mutual fund arm in August 2025. The firm employs the 'MEETS' framework to evaluate companies for long-term value creation, focusing on management, earnings, events, timing, and structural factors.
The Abakkus Flexi Cap Fund, initiated in December 2025, has managed Rs 6,338 crore and shown robust performance under fund manager Sanjay Doshi. Despite market volatility in early 2026, it demonstrated better downside risk protection than many peers, partly due to its active deployment strategy and tilt towards large-cap financials.
Following its launch in March 2026, the Abakkus Small Cap Fund, also managed by Sanjay Doshi, has achieved an absolute return of 26.7% by late August 2026. It successfully navigated market conditions by dynamically investing in high-conviction small-cap companies and maintaining a significant cash position.
Both the Abakkus Flexi Cap Fund and Abakkus Small Cap Fund appear to be delivering alpha, aligning with Singhania's proven investment prowess. Investors with a 5-7 year horizon may consider these schemes, aligning them with their risk appetite and objectives.
