Corn Planted Early for 2026 Farm Progress Show
1 Jun
Summary
- Corn was planted in April for the September 2026 Farm Progress Show.
- A new Agronomy Zone will showcase input suppliers.
- Husker Harvest Days in Nebraska are also preparing for events.

The 2026 Farm Progress Show, scheduled for September 1-3 in Boone, Iowa, is progressing well, with field preparation underway. Corn for the event's demonstrations was planted starting April 21, a date chosen to ensure optimal harvest moisture by early September. This timing was achieved despite heavy mid-April rains in many Iowa areas, as the show grounds experienced less precipitation.
This year's show introduces a significant new feature: the Agronomy Zone. This 6-acre area is designed to allow input suppliers, including seed, nutrient, and crop protection companies, to showcase their latest offerings through unique plot designs and guided tours. This initiative aims to provide farmers with closer insights into these critical agricultural inputs.
Additionally, 80 acres will feature cover crops flown on over the summer, with a full day of field demonstrations dedicated to this practice. Host farmer Dick Isaacson is actively involved in enhancing soil health on the grounds. Meanwhile, Husker Harvest Days in Grand Island, Nebraska, also has its demo fields planted and is set for its event from September 15-17, featuring various agricultural demonstrations.
