Summary
- A planning appeal has granted permission for 150 new homes.
- The development site is located near Pickwick, close to Corsham.
- Over 500 residents and the Pickwick Association objected.

Outline planning permission has been granted for 150 new homes on the outskirts of Pickwick, near Corsham, following a successful appeal by developer Great Tew Construction. Wiltshire Council's failure to decide on the application within the required timeframe led to the appeal. The decision overrides significant local opposition, including over 500 objections from residents and formal opposition from the Pickwick Association and Corsham Town Council.
The approved development, situated northwest of Corsham, will feature a new four-arm roundabout and a business hub. Great Tew Construction's plans also incorporate pedestrian access, parking facilities, public open space, and cycle routes. Notably, 30% of the proposed homes will be classified as 'affordable,' with 60% designated for affordable rent and 40% for shared ownership.
Concerns raised by Corsham Town Council included the impact on the Pickwick Conservation Area, the loss of greenfield land, ecological considerations, and potential strain on local infrastructure. Wiltshire Council confirmed that the Planning Inspectorate's decision is final, and further consultations will occur for reserved matters approval, which will detail the development's specifics.
