Vodafone Idea Soars on AGR Dues Reduction
4 May
Summary
- AGR dues reduced by ₹23,649 crore, totaling ₹64,046 crore.
- Government grants a five-year moratorium on AGR payments.
- Stock jumped 10% following the significant relief.

Vodafone Idea's share price experienced a notable increase of 10% in early trade on Monday, May 4, 2026. This surge followed the company's announcement that it had received significant relief concerning its Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) dues from the government.
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has reassessed Vodafone Idea's AGR liability, reducing it by approximately ₹23,649 crore. This brings the total outstanding dues down to ₹64,046 crore as of December 31, 2025. Crucially, the company has also been granted a five-year moratorium on these payments, a move that will provide substantial near-term cash flow relief.
With this regulatory uncertainty largely resolved, analysts believe Vodafone Idea is now in a stronger position to secure its pending ₹25,000 crore bank debt funding. This financial stability could enable the company to move forward with its previously outlined ₹45,000 crore capital expenditure plan over the next three years. Forecasts have been adjusted, with a tariff hike now anticipated in Q3 FY27.
