Malaysia to Host New Schneider Electric Training Hub for AI

Energy technology firm Schneider Electric will establish a new training center in Malaysia by the end of this year to serve the burgeoning Southeast Asian market. This strategic move is prompted by the significant increase in power demand fueled by the artificial intelligence boom and the subsequent expansion of data center infrastructure across the region.

Southeast Asia's data center capacity is anticipated to grow threefold by 2030, with Malaysia emerging as a prime location for such development. The country's established position as a hub for semiconductor testing and packaging, accounting for approximately 13% of the global market, further solidifies its importance for AI-driven growth.

The new training facility will impart vital technical skills to Schneider Electric's partners and end-users throughout Southeast Asia. These skills will encompass the operation of equipment ranging from medium-voltage energy management systems to advanced data center solutions, directly supporting the needs of the semiconductor industry and other AI-dependent sectors.

Schneider Electric is also leveraging AI internally and for its clients to optimize energy consumption. Through predictive systems, the company helps facilities like data centers and chip fabrication plants reduce energy usage by 2%-3%, a substantial saving for these power-intensive operations.
