Roblox Slashes Forecast Amid Safety Overhaul
1 May
Summary
- Roblox revised its 2026 bookings forecast downward significantly.
- New safety initiatives are linked to a potential decline in user growth.
- The company is developing photorealistic games with AI technology.

Roblox has issued a revised annual bookings forecast for 2026, projecting between $7.33 billion and $7.6 billion, a notable reduction from its previous outlook. This downward adjustment signals potential impacts on user growth and spending, stemming from the company's recent implementation of enhanced safety initiatives.
The platform introduced age-based accounts and verification earlier this year to improve user safety and limit interactions between younger and older users, following concerns over child exploitation. Chief Financial Officer Naveen Chopra indicated that these changes have led to less communication engagement on the platform, which can affect content virality and other metrics.
Consequently, Roblox is observing a sequential decline in daily active users for the second quarter. Average daily active users in the first quarter stood at 132 million, representing a 35% increase year-over-year. The company forecasts second-quarter bookings to range from $1.55 billion to $1.61 billion, falling below analyst expectations.
In parallel, Roblox unveiled a new project, code-named 'Roblox Reality.' This initiative aims to empower developers to create photorealistic games by integrating advanced videogame engines with AI world models, reflecting a growing trend of AI adoption in game development to manage costs and accelerate creation.
