The Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference for South Gujarat successfully attracted investment pledges amounting to ₹3.53 lakh crore. This significant financial commitment was formalized through the signing of 2,792 MoUs during the two-day event, as confirmed by the state government.
These burgeoning investments are anticipated to yield substantial employment opportunities, with projections indicating the creation of over 2.82 lakh jobs in South Gujarat over the coming three years. The initiative places a particular emphasis on fostering growth in the textiles, garments, chemicals, and manufacturing sectors.
Furthermore, the conference highlighted a strategic push towards promoting non-polluting industries and garment manufacturing units, especially within tribal districts. This focus is expected to empower over 25,000 women by offering them work-from-home roles, thereby fostering economic development in these areas.
Union Health Minister JP Nadda lauded the scale of these investment commitments, attributing them to Gujarat's robust industrial ecosystem and increasing global connectivity. He specifically noted Surat and Bharuch as rapidly evolving manufacturing hubs, recognizing the established strengths of industries like Surat's diamonds and textiles, and Bharuch's chemical and fertilizer sectors.
