Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 594-kilometer Ganga Expressway on April 29, 2026. This vital corridor connects Meerut to Prayagraj, significantly reducing travel time across Uttar Pradesh. The six-lane expressway is designed for speeds up to 120 kmph, slashing the journey from the previous 12-13 hours to a mere 6-7 hours.
The Ganga Expressway traverses 12 key districts, including Hapur, Budaun, and Raebareli, before concluding in Prayagraj. This strategic route aims to transform Uttar Pradesh into a global logistics hub, boosting regional economies by providing faster market access. Integrated with other expressways like the Yamuna Expressway, it features infrastructure such as emergency landing strips.
Public access to the expressway is now open, with a one-way toll for cars set at approximately ₹1,800. The Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) manages toll collection. Safety features include an Intelligent Traffic Management System and AI-based surveillance cameras to ensure swift emergency response.
