Bengaluru Electricity Bills Get Costlier This Month
2 May
Summary
- Electricity bills in Bengaluru will increase by 56 paise per unit.
- The price hike aims to recover a revenue deficit of ₹2.06 crore for FY25.
- Households may see an additional monthly expense of ₹56 to ₹112.

Effective this month, Bengaluru's electricity bills will see a price increase. The Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) has approved a hike of 56 paise per unit for electricity consumption. This decision is part of the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company's (BESCOM) effort to recover a revenue deficit of approximately ₹2.06 crore incurred during the fiscal year 2025.
This adjustment means consumers will pay an additional charge under the head "FY25 true-up charges." The increased cost will be spread across 12 months during the fiscal year 2027. For households typically using 100 to 200 units monthly, this translates to an extra cost ranging from ₹56 to ₹112 per month. Annually, this could amount to an additional expense of ₹672 to ₹1,344 for these consumers.
