As of August 17, 2025, it appears that Michael Douglas' retirement plans may not be as set in stone as previously thought. His wife, actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, recently shared her perspective on the matter, stating that "retirement" is a "flexible concept" for her husband.
Zeta-Jones explained that while Douglas has "definitely earned the chance to slow down," she "never says never" when it comes to him returning to work. She noted that Douglas is "his father's son and loves to work," suggesting he may not be ready to fully retire just yet.
In the meantime, Zeta-Jones herself has been keeping busy. She is currently starring in the second season of the hit series "Wednesday," where she has had the opportunity to work with rising star Jenna Ortega. Zeta-Jones expressed her admiration for Ortega, saying, "It was very clear that she was a phenomenon" and that she has "a smart head on her shoulders."
Additionally, Zeta-Jones has relished the chance to explore the character of Morticia Addams in the Addams Family reboot. She revealed that "Tim [Burton] really wanted to incorporate the family into the show," allowing her to "bend into the comedy and the emotion, the vulnerability." Zeta-Jones believes that Morticia is "like all of us" – "strong, but we're vulnerable."
