On August 24, 2025, Sphere Entertainment Co. debuted its highly anticipated Wizard of Oz experience at the Sphere in Las Vegas. The event was led by the company's executive chairman and CEO, James Dolan, who channeled the Wizard himself, dressed in a head-to-toe emerald ensemble complete with a green top hat.
Dolan welcomed the crowd, promising a one-of-a-kind experience that would make guests feel like they're part of the story. True to his word, the Sphere's Wizard of Oz adaptation features a range of immersive elements, from a tornado that creates a massive wind storm to talking trees and bubbles that float down from the sky.
The venue's 160,000 square foot LED screen transports viewers to the world of Oz, with the tornado sequence being a standout moment that had attendees shrieking and holding onto their seats. Other interactive features include the Sphere's chairs jolting and shaking whenever the Wicked Witch appears, and columns of fire shooting into the air with the arrival of the Wizard.
Sphere president and COO Jennifer Koester portrayed Dorothy, while producer Jane Rosenthal channeled Glinda the Good Witch. Rosenthal, who called the project the highlight of her career, invited guests to tap their heels and repeat "There's no place like Sphere" before the show began.
The Wizard of Oz experience at the Sphere is now open and scheduled to run through March 2026, offering multiple screenings per day for audiences to enjoy this groundbreaking adaptation of the classic film.
